Last series it was Mashpi Lodge in Ecuador's cloud forest that received rave reviews, so do watch BBC2 this Thursday (17 May) at 8pm. Journalist Giles Coren and chef Monica Galetti travel to Pucón, in Chile's beautiful Lake District, to see what makes the Hacienda Vira Vira so unique.
Owned by Michael and Claudia Paravicini, who opened this stunning property in 2014, it is surrounded by araucaria (monkey puzzle) forests. Four hot tubs are hidden away in the grounds, and they are justifiably proud of their food - locally sourced and organic. Endless activities are available, from mountain biking, hiking or riding to fishing; and two national parks (Villarrica and Huerquehue) are on the doorstep.
