New species of Galapagos land iguana

A new species of land iguana, seemingly missed by Darwin 150 years ago, has recently been discovered on Isabela Island by a team of Ecuadorian and Italian researchers. The species is pink in colour and found on protected Wolf Volcano. It is estimated that the population is of around 250 invididuals and is thought to have branched off from other species of land iguana around 5.7 million years ago.
