Santa Marta and Tayrona

The snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta reach 5,770m and in their northern shadow the Tayrona National Park hides some of the most remote and enchanting beaches in the world. Here is also a starting point for treks to the famous Lost City (Ciudad Perdida).

Casa del Farol

City hotel - Santa Marta old town
A charming, small hotel with a cosmopolitan theme in the heart of the old town (a minute's walk from the cathedral). The hotel is one of several small hotels in Snta Marta owned by a friendly Spanish couple from Barcelona. There is a jacuzzi on the ground floor and small pool on the rooftop terrace which offers lovely views of the cathedral. Only breakfast is served.

Country hotel - Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
In a unique setting in the heart of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta at 1,500 metres above sea level, with views to the distant Caribbean sea. This area offers an incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna and it is a prime destination for birdwatchers, with 628 bird species found here, 20 of which are endemic. The house is surrounded by rainforest and coffee fields, and most afternoons rising clouds flood the house and then fade into the sky leaving a breath-taking sunset. All meals and drinks are included (excluding bottled soft drinks and alcohol).

An exclusive oceanfront property on Naranjos beach where the Piedras river meets the Caribbean. The hotel is only a 5 minute drive away from the main entrance to Tayrona National Park and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range can be seen in the distance. There is a lovely outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar.

Beach hotel - near Tayrona National Park
On a beautiful stretch of Caribbean coast only a few miles east of the entrance to Tayrona National Park and a 2 minute walk away from the nearest beach. There is a swimming pool to cool off in and a hammock deck ro relax in. Breakfast and dinner are included and meals are generally eaten together with other guests around a large table (though you can eat at your own table if preferred).

City hotel - Santa Marta
A boutique hotel in Santa Marta's historical centre, just a short walk from the beach. There is a restaurant, bar and terrace where guests can relax, and an outdoor swimming pool and spa.
Merecumbe

Beach hotel - Close to Tayrona National Park
A comfortable option in a secluded spot along the Caribbean coast. The property is around fifteen minutes' from the entrance to Tayrona National Park, set just back from the beach. There is a restaurant which is open only to guests of the hotel (meals are included) and food is prepared using fresh, natural ingredients. There is no hot water at this hotel.
