Estancia Tipiliuke
Location
35km east of San Martín (San Martin de los Andes, Argentina)
Description
Estancia Cerro de los Pinos covers 50,000 acres of mountains, rivers, plains and woodlands. Kevin and Maria Tiemersma run the guest operation, Estancia Tipiliuke.
Activities
Fishing is on the Chimehuin or the Quilquihue. The main activity in March-April is stalking (wild red deer).
Accommodation
The main lodge has 5 comfortable bedrooms, is surrounded by trees, and overlooks a small arroyo. The owners' houses are a short walk away (through the irrigated kitchen gardens), with large lawns and interesting plants and trees. There is also a fine church built in memory of a member of the Larminat family killed in the first war. They sell very fine Mapuche crafts.
Our comments
Lovely, but avoid 'hunting' season if you do not want to be surrounded by camouflage jackets.
When to go
November to April, although it would be a great place to stay for skiing in winter.
