Casa da Ilha
Location
Ilha Grande (Angra and Ilha Grande, Brazil)
Description
A small, charming pousada with its own jetty, a short boat ride from the island's largest town, Abraão. Nestled in lush forest and built into the hillside, Casa da Ilha is perched just above the ocean, with lovely views over the bay, a stone's throw from a small and effectively private beach. There is a restaurant which is also open to the public and a 15 minute walk through a narrow forested path takes you to the town where there are plenty of places to eat.
Previously called Sagu Mini Resort.
Activities
Trails lead off around the island and the hotel also has kayaks available for guests - there is another small beach a short paddle away.
Accommodation
The accommodation block is set above the main house higher up the hill within tropical gardens. There are 9 ocean view rooms each with a terrace and a hammock. There is one further room within the main house below next to a comfortable sitting room.
Our comments
A charming and rather compact hotel hemmed in between the ocean and the hill. Quiet, isolated and ideal for relaxing though guests are rather stuck there at night. The hotel does not accept children under 12.
