Casa Cairuçu
Location
15 minutes from Paraty by boat (Paraty, Brazil)
Description
This charming beach house is owned by Simon and Fabi Heyes (Simon was a member of the LF team for many years). Nestled in luxuriant vegetation just yards from the ocean the wide verandas offer stunning views from deck chairs or hammocks. There is a fully equipped kitchen; a library of books, CDs and DVDs; a selection of board games; snorkelling equipment, two double kayaks, paddle boards, and rods.
Activities
Swim or snorkel in the ocean (turtles are a frequent sight), walk to nearby beaches (the closest is a 5 minute swim or 3 minute walk away), or take a boat to colonial Paraty. Slightly further afield are walks in the Atlantic rainforest. A local guide will be available should guests want to organise guided tours, either in Paraty or around the bay, and stand-up paddle board lessons and private yoga classes can be arranged.
Accommodation
Three double en-suite rooms facing the ocean and a single room on the other side of the house, so ideal for 6-7 people.
Our comments
Stunning and relaxing. Local concierge and cooking services easily arranged. Rates include initial and final boat transfers from Paraty, and maid service.
When to go
January and February are the official rainy months, and although it can and does rain at other times of year showers are usually intense and brief. April to June is perhaps the ideal time to go: not too hot, less chance of rain, and clear skies. Warmest (23-29 degrees) from December to March, coolest July and August (when you may need a sweater at night).
Client comments and reviews
The villa was as lovely as we hoped and we had a great time there. - MG (April 2015)
We spent a lovely week in Casa Cairucu, it was so relaxing watching boats mosey by and the dramatic cliffs of the Atlantic rainforest over the bay were beautiful. We took your advice and walked to Praia Vermelha, we had the whole beach to ourself in the week it was just idyllic. Henry loved paddling in the sea and we all enjoyed eating seafood in Joaquin's shack, before he took us back to the house in his boat - great fun! Adriana looked after the house immaculately and even did our washing, Henry loved her feijoida and we thoroughly enjoyed our daily hammock time on the verandah! - RR (May 2012)
