Calanoa Amazon Lodge

Location

Amazon (Amazon and Orinoquia, Colombia)

Description

Calanoa eco-lodge is in the heart of the Amazon jungle, between the Amacayacu Natural Park and the island of Mocagua, with access by boat from Leticia. It is a natural reserve with diversity in fauna and flora and the lodge is characterised by its sustainable architecture of wood and woven palm. The communal area has a central screened tent with a dining table and view of the river, and there are hammock swings and seats around it. A wooden deck connects with the kitchen pavilion, where guests are invited to participate in the preparation of food.

Activities

A selection of shared guided activities are offered during any stay. Guests will learn about the conservation and protection of the flora and fauna of the Amazon River and its ecosystems. This includes raising the awareness about the care and protection of pink and grey dolphins, manatees, turtles and other river species and the local vegetation. Visits to local communities to meet the native families and a visit to the Marasha Natural Reserve are also possible.

Accommodation

The eight rustic cabins are individually named and all have a private bathroom, mosquito nets and 24 hour solar energy. There are three river-front cabins, a master cabin, a junior suite, a couple of tree-top cabins and a forest view cabin. There is no hot water
