Myrysji Lodge, Coastal zone and Paramaribo

Location

3 hours drive east of Paramaribo (Coastal zone and Paramaribo, Guianas)

Description

An estuarine island at the mouth of the Marowijne River, near the border of French Guiana. The lodge works with Amerindian communities promoting tourism and protecting the unique sandy beaches that various species of sea turtles nest in. The lodge itself is basic but clean.

Activities

See leatherback, hawskbill, green and Olive Ridley turtles nesting on the beach.

Accommodation

Rooms are clean but basic and have private facilities. Most rooms have a verandah.

When to go

February to August - although not all species will be there at the same time.
