Puelo and the Southern Lake District
Renting a car is an excellent way to explore, and there is wonderful walking, riding and fishing. The spectacular crossing of the Andes into Argentina by lake and land is possible all year, although it is more likely to be clear in the summer (December to March).

Lodge/Hosteria - Las Rocas Lake, Puelo ValleyA haven of serene tranquility on a private island in the middle of Las Rocas lake (south-east of Puerto Montt). A special and isolated place only reached on foot or horseback with Cathy Berard, an excellent local guide.
Hotel Centinela
Country hotel - Puerto OctayA comfortable hotel on a peninsula just outside the small town of Puerto Octay with lovely views over Lago Llanquihue and to Volcan Osorno. The hotel has many original features and furnishings, a private beach and well kept gardens.
Hotel Natura
Country hotel - PeullaA large modern hotel on Peulla Island at the heart of the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park surrounded by stunning Andean lakes and mountains. Peulla Island is the first stop on the classic Lake Crossing route to Bariloche and there is an excellent restaurant, shop, spa and sauna.
Hotel Petrohue
Country hotel - near Puerto VarasPetrohue has fine views over the Lake and to Volcano Osorno beyond. There are cosy seating areas to relax in and the small restaurant serves good food.
